Mother's Day

Stephen has perfected the art of breakfast in bed, which is all I ever want on mother's day.

The menu:
Stuffed french toast (he gets better at this every time he makes it.)
bacon (from "good" pigs...thank you very much, Food, Inc.)
fresh fruit
mimosa!! =)

The girls and I made a lemon blueberry dessert to have after dinner. We picked blueberries at Brock Marion's blueberry farm on Saturday (that name probably only means something to the Dallas relatives). His wife gave us this recipe...and it was pretty good, but not nearly as good as just eating a handful at a time. =)

We ended the day at the Symphony Under the Stars concert and a pretty impressive fireworks display. (Kind of a pathetic picture, but you get the idea!)

Beach Time with Nana & Pudge!

St. Augustine with Nana & Pudge!

Sarasota, FLORIDA?!?!

I wish I had the energy to tell the story of this fun little trip....let's just say it took us 5 hours to get to the beach, when it should have just taken half that time....I guess if you know us, than that's not very surprising, huh?!?! And if you know us, it'll probably also not surprise you to know that all of the traveling setbacks were caused by Jan and me. Nuf was the only one that recognized that we were, in fact, NOT near the beautiful beaches of Sarasota, but in the ghetto of Tampa.....we knew we were off track when we pulled over in said ghetto and asked a man for directions....and his response was, "You're trying to get to Sarasota, FLORIDA?!?!" He said it like we were in Maine or something.

Forts

So here's a couple of the many forts that have now popped up around here. All of the Zedler and Ausley kids used to share the tree fort (which is actually just a space under a tree, but they've made a very elaborate fort out of it, with rooms, a fence and a working doorbell...I don't have a photo of this one.) I guess it was getting cramped in the tree fort, because now there are three other forts that I know of...the older Ausley kids made this first one out of old doors and Lawson made Fort J for Oliver...I have to say, if we ever get our house, I am going to miss this place...if we don't, then I guess this isn't such a bad place to be stuck.

The Vers

Ollie is 3!!

My sweet little boy is 3 and he celebrated all week as Batman (thanks Nana and Pudge for the costume)! I think this boy got the absolute perfect birthday presents this year from his grandparents. Honey and Bubba gave him a train that included a Curious George figure, and this has become one of our favorite morning activities. When he finally tires of that, he moves outside and onto the balance bike that Nana and Pudge gave him...I wish I had some photos of him on the thing...he's got some skills! When he's not playing with his new toys, he is making toys out of sticks....notice his guitar in the photo below. I believe at the time of this picture, he was pretending to be John "Denell" and singing "Don't Let's Start", much to his daddy's delight. Alright, and the photo of him in the dress....I don't really have words for it....notice I didn't crop out the culprits of this little cross dressing adventure....

Honey & Bubba!

We had the pleasure of Honey and Bubba's company a couple of months ago, where we enjoyed playing miniature golf, hanging out in the cottage, and visiting Silver Springs Amusement Park for the first time. We had a great time at "nature's theme park", especially on the glass bottom boats (where you could see straight to the bottom of the springs...and all the turtles, fish and plants that make their home there...) and the lighthouse ride which takes you up to the treetops for a nice view of the springs.
