Their imaginations could've taken them anywhere when they boarded this train and where did they want to go....Kansas...(destination decided by Hailey, the engineer)

The fam
Here are some pictures that Mark Jackson took....and I had to journal some stories before I forget....
Sophie's World
Okay, I need to get down the latest Sophie stories before I forget them...
I think she said her first real-live sentence...
She was lying on my lap, looking upside down at a friend of ours who was across the room and she said, "I see you!" Then she proceeded to say it to everyone in the room.
A couple of weeks ago, I was in the shower (enjoying my few minutes of peace) and Anna came to complain about something that Sophie had done. I called to Sophie and she said "Whaaat!"...then she came into the bathroom, pulled back the shower curtain and said, "Whaaat?!?!" The tone is what made it so funny....she sounded like an annoyed teenager.
She's started saying "okay" all the time when we ask her if she wants to do something...it's really cute the way she says it...(really breathy.)
A few days ago, I was trying on a pair of shoes that I was pretty sure were too small for her, but I wanted to make sure. After I had the first one on, she started saying, "Too tight! Too tight! Off! Off!" I thought maybe I was imaging this, so I tried them on her again the next day in front of Stephen (which he thought was really cruel), but I just wanted to make sure that that's really what she said. And as soon as the first one was on, she said it again.
Today in the bath, she kept dropping the soap and when she did she'd say, "white! white!" The soap was white, but maybe she was saying something else, I don't know....(cause she usually says "soap") I think maybe it was just a coincident. I don't think I've ever even mentioned colors to her....of course, I'm not her biggest teacher...she seems to learn most things from watching and imitating her sis.
After our bath, I was holding her in front of the mirror and I said, "Who's that?" She said "Ababelle" and I said "no, Sophie!" She said "Sopie" and then she said, "izabah"....Annabelle is fascinated with middle names and has been calling Sophie "Sophie Elizabeh"....
She's really starting to sing a lot more and she has definite opinions on music...and for the most part, it's pretty good! She can sing "happy birthday" pretty well now and loves singing it to Annabelle and pointing to her on the "to you" part. She also likes "jingle bells" right now...
Okay, I think this is the last one (this is what happens when I wait so long to post)...a couple of days ago at breakfast (she's replaced her morning breastfeeding with "risin bran"...she asks for it first thing....so needless to say I went to Sam's and stocked up on it...if it's good enough to replace boob juice, we need lots of it.) So she was eating her raisin bran and looking at these two X-Mas plates I had bought at the Target $1 section. They are the same shape and colors, but one is a Santa and one is a snowman...she said "snowman" and I said, "yes, that's a snowman..." and she looked at the other one and said, "two snowman!" I don't know...maybe once again it was my imagination...maybe she's just copying her sister cause I really don't think she's counting yet, but I still have to write it down.

Sophie
A couple of weeks ago, I gave the girls some jars and lids to play with. After playing for a while, Sophie started saying "open dat..." Now she says it all the time...when she wants the marker lid off, when she wants to eat my burt's bee lip stuff or when she wants anything off limits!!
Anna at Nana and Pudge's
This was the morning that I picked up Annabelle after she had spent the night with Nana and Pudge. Nana had french braided her hair...she was looking quite grown up.
Nana and Pudge's X-mas house
Annabelle loves Nana and Pudge's "X-mas house."
Here she is admiring the job she did decorating the tree...she hung five metal stars on the same branch...(she was sorting, of course!)
Sophie also got to help and after breaking three or four glass balls (even after our attempts to keep them away from her!), she really got into the "hang" of it...ha!
At one point, Nana and I were in the kitchen and Sophie came up to us and said the same four syllable word over and over...but we could not figure out what it was she was saying...finally, I told her to show me what she was talking about. She grabbed my hand and took me to the tree. She pointed to a branch that had an alligator ornament on it and then we realized she had been saying, "ah e geh er."

Another Annaplane
I put Anna down for a nap a little while ago. After a couple of minutes, she called me in there to show me her airplane. Unfortunately, it's on the magna doodle...so I quickly snatched it up and took a picture before she had a chance to erase it (she likes to do this when we make a big fuss about something she has drawn...she thinks it's funny to see our disappointment!) Anways, I gave it back to her and took a couple of more pictures...I think she was happy to pose...and quite proud of her masterpiece!

Why?
I told Sophie to do something a coupe of days ago (can't for the life of me remember what) and she said, "Why?" I really don't think she knows the concept of why yet, I think she was just imatating her sister!
"Mamma can see it..."
A couple of days ago, Anna was sitting on the potty and Stephen was in the bathroom with her. She tooted and then asked Stephen if he wanted to see her toot. Stephen explained that while you can hear and smell toots, you can't see them. She looked down, shrugged her shoulders and said, "Well, mamma can see them."
She always asks me to see her toots when she's on the potty and I just go along with it (thinking that maybe she unknowingly did a matter splatter)...now she thinks I have some kind of super-toot-seeing powers!

Bellsie
Annabelle told me to get the camera and get this shot...apparently she thought she and sis were looking pretty cute. She has really started talking in paragraphs. It's amazing to hear the new things she picks up every day. There is still the occassion where I don't understand what she's saying, but usually if I listen hard enough or if she clarifies with other words, I can get it.
She still loves to draw...her favorite things to draw right now are spiders, suns (look a lot alike!), tunnels and train tracks...she drew a picture of herself the other day that was pretty good. I need to post some of her drawings. The other day, she was doing a shape puzzle and I asked her about some of the more difficult shapes that we haven't talked about in nearly a year and she remembered them all...octagon, trapazoid...then, a few days later, she was drawing cicles and triangles and I asked her to draw a trapazoid (not really expecting her to be able to do it) and she did! Not sure if it was just a flook or not, but it was pretty cool!
She still loves helping mommy fold the small towels and dish rags and is really good at it.
I guess we're entering the stage where she could potentially blurt out embarrassing things at any moment...the other day at Target, she saw the bra section and yelled out, "Mommy, look at all the boobies!" That was cute...not embarrasing...it's when she yells out "Mommy, look at those HUGE boobies!" at some stranger that I'm dreading!
I'll try to be better about posting as this is really my only way of documenting life with the girls...some day I will get this info. into the baby books!!!

Lil' limber girl
This picture does not quite capture my little gymnast. She had her arms completely straight, arching her back completely until her head was nearly touching the floor. By the time I got the camera out and ready, this was the best picture I could get before she decided she was bored with it.
Here's a little update on the Sophster. Her language has just taken off. She repeats nearly anything we say and has started to combine 2-3 words. Her favorite combo is, "No my (fill in the blank)" Today when she saw Anna eating a snack in her high chair, it was "No, my high chair" and later it was "No, my baby!" and "No, my jacket!" ....sometimes she just shortens it to "MINE!!" The other day when Julian was visiting she was going up the ladder of her climber and Julian was righ behind her...when she got to the top, she yelled down at him, "Up, No! Up, No!" It was really funny. Tonight she kept saying "See you" after she said "bye bye". The night that we went to Hallowzooween, I asked the girls, "Who wants to go trick or treating?" and Sophie answered, "I do!" When we went to Muskogee for Henry's birthday, Annabelle was calling Henry's dog, Emily, and soon we heard a smaller, higher voice saying, "Emily!" Sure enough it was Sophie.
She's also really getting into the pretending more. The other night we were at Nana and Pudges and Sophie was very intent on handing each of us an imaginary something or other that she kept having to get more of from their table. She kept making the rounds, periodically going back to the table for more...it was really cute to see because it was totally initiated by her...Anna was at home with daddy.
I think she thinks she's as old as her sister...and sometimes I think she's going through the terrible two's that her sister never had, a little early!!

Hallowzooween
It didn't take long at all for the girls to get into the halloween mode. We went to the zoo the night before for a little practice. We tried to get some good pictures of them without the bags, but as you can see, they knew the value that lay inside and were not about to part with them.
The Girls with Aunt E
After we visited a few neighbors, Aunt Etha was our first official place to trick or treat and she hooked them up with yummy white chocolate goodness.
Ahhh comfort
This is from when Sophie was sick...she was asleep, but aware enough to be searching for her "booboos," making sure they were close...not aware enough to realize that the "booboos" had grown hair.
Making Jack
Annabelle helped daddy make a jack-o-lantern. She loved pulling the seeds and goop out. She wanted it to have a silly face, so daddy made its tongue stick out. I meant to get a picture of the girls with it lit at night, but completely forgot...
Auntie's PJ's
I had to get a picture of Annabelle in her auntie's pj's. The top fits great, but the pants kept falling off (you know, the usual)
October Fest
The highlight of October Fest had to be the belly dancers...all the kids loved it...especially Julian! and Annabelle can do a great Elaine-esque imatation.
Our own personal pumpkin patch
We went to the pumpkin patch with Nana on Halloween, but it was a little rainy that morning and I guess the ponies and the train melted and nobody else braved the drizzle to browse amongst gourds and pumpkins...so we had it all to ourselves...Annabelle and Sophie had so much fun riding in wagons, climbing on haystacks and "shopping" for miniature pumpkins, that they didn't even notice the main attractions were missing.
Keane
This picture of Annabelle reminds me of a Margaret Keane print that Jay and Jan used to have in their bedroom. I tried to find it online, but didn't have a whole lot of luck. It's all in the eyes...
